Days getting colder, nights getting longer, and the sun setting sooner just means you have more nighttime hours for your daily skincare ritual. And let’s be honest, your skin is probably noticing just as many changes.
Here are 5 skincare tips for fall that you can use to create an effective autumn skincare routine, transitioning it from hot summer days to cooler, windier fall days.
It’s not just hot summer days that can dehydrate your skin, the cold is equally as guilty, especially when you’re running that heater indoors! Dehydrated skin looks and feels irritable, lackluster, and tired because it’s lacking water content (think of how you feel when you’re thirsty) so it’s extra important to give your skin a nice drink of water when bundled up inside or cozied up next to the fire. A great way to tackle these concerns is with a hydrating serum. An even BETTER way to tackle these concerns AND keep your skin clear of pesky blemishes and large pores is to get one that does both.
Our favorite? Peace Out Acne Serum! It has a formula with 7 active ingredients that not only hydrate skin but soothe it, too all why keeping blemishes at bay.
We know, we know...using face oils can be scary at first. They don’t have the best reputation in the whole breakout-causing department, but that rumor isn’t true - same goes for a thicker moisturizer. They usually are not the cause of pesky pimples but can actually soothe redness and irritation while providing skin the nourishment it needs to heal..
Did you know that hydration and moisture are actually different? Hydration = water. Moisture = oil (don’t worry - we mean the good kind that helps keep your skin healthy and happy). Long story short, tip #1 helps you replenish skin with more water, so now it’s time to lock it in and keep it there with a face oil or thicker moisturizer. Because at the end of the day colder days also mean drier, wind-chapped skin days that need extra replenishment.
Repeat after us: I will apply sunscreen every day even when summer is over. While we’re at it, let’s repeat this one too: I can still be exposed to UVA/UVB damage even during winter fall and winter months!
Just because the hot days spent outside are over doesn’t mean we should ditch the SPF. We suggest using a moisturizer with an SPF of 30 or higher every day and keep that skin protected year round.
Just like our face, our bodies need some TLC in these colder months, too. When summer ends and there is less moisture in the air, our skin may start to feel dry and itchy. Invest in a body lotion then load up the hydration from head to toe.
Tip: Refer back to #2. A thicker body butter or body oil are awesome post-shower or anytime during the day.
Another skincare holy grail here…keep drinking your water! No matter what season it is, staying well hydrated will rid the body and skin of toxins. Less toxins = more glowy, clear skin.
And if you want to give skin an extra boost of brightening, just swipe on Peace Out Dullness!
