Studies show that...

• 1 in 3 LGBTQ youth reported that they had been physically threatened or harmed in their lifetime due to their LGBTQ identity. 

• 40% of LGBTQ youth and more than half of transgender and nonbinary youth report having seriously considered attempting suicide in the past twelve months. 

• 46% of youth reported they want psychological or emotional counseling from a mental health professional but were unable to receive it in the past twelve months. 

As an SF-based LGBTQIA+ founded and run brand, these statistics not only alarm us but urge us, as a company with a voice and large platform, to help bring awareness and support to these issues. So, Peace Out Skincare is partnering with The Trevor Project with a focus on helping and assisting the youth programs that support and connect our diverse communities. 

WHAT’S THE TREVOR PROJECT?

Founded in 1998 by the creators of the Academy Award-winning short film TREVOR, The Trevor Project is the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning (LGBTQ) young people under 25.

The organization works to save young lives by providing support through free and confidential suicide prevention and crisis intervention programs on platforms where young people spend their time: our 24/7 phone lifeline, chat, and text. They also run TrevorSpace, the world’s largest safe space social networking site for LGBTQ youth, and operate innovative education, research, and advocacy programs.

BECOME AN ALLY 

The Trevor Project has volunteer opportunities for you to give support to someone in need. Studies show that if an LGBTQIA+ young person has at least one accepting adult in their life, it reduces their risk of suicide by 40%.

The Trevor Project Support Center has answers to frequently asked questions by LGBTQIA+ youth, including questions about being an LGBTQIA+ ally.

With this ongoing, ever-evolving partnership, we hope to achieve a healthier, more equitable future for our LGBTQIA+ communities. We will be partnering from multiple facets including volunteer partnerships, donations, resource and support, and financial contributions.
