A well-known transgender actress who has pioneered transgender awareness by actively helping people understand what it means to identify as it. 

LADY GAGA

An iconic singer-songwriter who identifies as bisexual and is known for fighting for LGBTQIA+ rights around the world. She wrote a song called Born This Way that celebrates and empowers women and the gay community. 

ALICE WALKER

A writer and activist, as well as a queer woman of color, she travels internationally to raise awareness about injustice and speak on the side of the poor, oppressed, and disenfranchised. 

FRIDA KAHLO 

An extremely important feminist figure, she was openly radical in the 1900s and took both male and female lovers. Her many, now famous, self portraits are known for expressing and commenting on the female form while utilizing traditional Mexican themes and colors. 

RUTH BADER GINSBURG

The oldest Supreme Court Justice at 85 years old, she was a pioneer for gender equality as a young female lawyer and spoke openly about her own struggles. 

SERENA WILLIAMS 

The greatest female tennis player of all time, she has won 23 Grand Slam titles while battling gender and racial bias. 

SELMA HAYEK 

A famous actress who also is an activist for female victims of domestic abuse, immigrant rights, and refugees. 

TAMMY DUCKWORTH

Currently the US Senator of Illinois, she was the first Asian-American woman elected to Congress in Illinois, the first female double-amputee in the Senate (she lost both legs while serving in Iraq), the first Senator to give birth while in office, and the first member of Congress born in Thailand. 

MELINDA GATES

One of the most powerful philanthropists in the world, she and her husband Bill founded the world’s largest charitable organization that addresses issues like women’s rights, education, and poverty. 

MICHELLE OBAMA

A lawyer, writer, and wife of former US President Barack Obama, she was the first African American first lady of the United States.
